Coca-Cola’s latest product is certain to intrigue enthusiasts of fruit-flavored beverage. This Monday, the business announced the reintroduction of Barrilitos, a cherished soft drink from Monterey, Mexico, originally launched in 1938 and incorporated into Coca-Cola’s repertoire in 2008.
Coca-Cola ceased production of Barrilitos several years ago, responding to consumer feedback and opting to concentrate on other imported products, as reported by Food Dive.
The beverage corporation announced that the reintroduced soda possesses a revamped identity and formulation tailored for the contemporary Latino demographic.
Coca-Cola emphasized the beverage’s attraction to multicultural Gen Z individuals, millennials, and families, stating that the relaunch addresses the “increasing demand for nostalgic soft drinks with cultural significance.”
Barrilitos is crafted from fruit tastes and cane sugar, which Coca-Cola describes as achieving “a perfect harmony between sweetness and effervescence.” The beverage is manufactured and packaged in Mexico and is available in four flavors: Mandarina (Mandarin), Manzana (Apple), Piña (Pineapple), and Ponche de Frutas (Fruit Punch).
Coca-Cola asserted that the beverages “pair perfectly” with a diverse selection of cuisines, specifically designed with savory dishes, particularly those in Mexican cuisine, in consideration.
The new sodas are offered in 12-ounce glass bottles or 1.5-liter PET multiserve containers. Nonetheless, it is important to acknowledge that dissemination is restricted. The beverages will initially launch in California and Texas, followed by sales in Southern Nevada and Oklahoma.
“Barrilitos is adapting to the requirements of a new generation while remaining cognizant of its rich heritage,” stated Maria Correa, Barrilitos Lead.
“We have revitalized Barrilitos with a new brand identity while maintaining the traditional flavors and customs that have endeared it to Latino households.” This revamp invites you to discover Barrilitos and commemorate its past in an entirely new manner.
Barrilitos is not the sole new drink to have recently garnered attention. On October 21, Sprite Winter Spiced reappeared on the shelves. This seasonal flavor is a variation on traditional lemon-lime soda, blended with tart cranberry and a medley of spices. Sprite Winter Spiced is offered in both cans and bottles, available in normal and zero-sugar options.
Starry is introducing a new soda flavor: Starry Cranberry Blizz. This zero-sugar variant is a lemon-lime soda infused with a tart and acidic cranberry essence. Customers may acquire this limited-time drink in 12-pack cans and two-liter bottles. The soft drink will be sold in stores on November 4 and will also be offered on TikTok Shop.
