Except for a brief test in the United States in 2022, McDonald’s has not provided its American consumers the opportunity to try the highly popular Chicken Big Mac. Recently, reports have surfaced suggesting that the long-anticipated sandwich may soon return to the United States.
Earlier this month, food blogger Burger Beast announced the availability of the Chicken Big Mac at two McDonald’s locations in Miami and Homestead, Florida. Moreover, foodie food blogger @snackolator—who frequently previews chain restaurant introductions before to their official announcements—asserted in an Instagram post this week that the Chicken Big Mac would be available on menus in the United States in 2024.
The CEO of @mcdonalds said in a recent video that the Chicken Big Mac will be available alongside the original menu in U.S. outlets, although no exact date was provided in the announcement.
The video referenced by @snackolator was likely a TikTok from August 7, featuring McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski performing a side-by-side taste test of the traditional Big Mac (590 calories) and the Chicken Big Mac. Kempczinski indicated in the post that the Chicken Big Mac has previously been part of our menu and is returning for a reintroduction.
Nevertheless, the executive did not specify the exact day it would be available on menus nor directly confirm its availability at American McDonald’s locations. A McDonald’s spokesperson did not promptly reply to our inquiries regarding the purported reintroduction of the Chicken Big Mac in the United States.
The Chicken Big Mac comprises a triple-layered bun and identical toppings to a traditional Big Mac: cheese, lettuce, pickles, and Big Mac sauce. However, it replaces the two beef patties with two crispy chicken breast patties.
Although McDonald’s trialed the Chicken Big Mac at specific Miami locations in 2022, the burger has since been more broadly introduced in many overseas areas. The chain introduced the Chicken Big Mac for a limited duration in the United Kingdom and Ireland in 2022, subsequently reintroducing it for another temporary period the following year. In 2023, McDonald’s temporarily offered the chicken sandwich at its Canadian locations.
